First Few Days
You should wear your summer uniform to school, the blazer is optional. Check the 'Uniform' page for more information.
Do NOT set up any online textbooks before the first day of school. There will be a time when students are given their laptops for classes to register together. Parents need to keep a record of all registration codes in case there are problems with an online textbook during the year.
Do NOT need to bring a lock to school. All students are given a combination lock to use on their lockers. This will be provided on the first day of school.
You will be very tired at the end of the day. This is normal and happens because your brain is working overtime to learn names, faces, rules, expectations and directions.
Camp happens very early, return your permission and medical forms as soon as possible.
Make sure everything you bring to school is labelled with YOUR name (not your brother's, friend's, next door neighbour's, person you got it from, ...). This makes it easy to return lost items. Sticky name labels easily fall off clothing, use a permanent marker or sew name labels onto clothes.
Ask questions. It can be hard to ask questions, try not to be scared. St Bernard's College is a school and all the teachers want to know how to help you settle and learn so let them know by asking questions.
Talk to as many people as possible. Make new friends, meet new people and be friendly to everyone. People you didn't like in primary school may have changed over the holidays and may become your new best friend. Don't dump your friends from primary school, but be willing to make new ones.
Look for ways to become involved. Find out about the groups and sporting teams you can join. Read the College bulletin daily and check your emails at least twice a day to get information. There is something for everything, so be willing to get involved.
