Year 7 2018 - Orientation Day Information for incoming Year 7 2018
Upon arrival at the Auditorium. We would ask parents and students to check the homeroom lists outside the Auditorium. Students should sit with their homeroom group (at the front) upon entering the Auditorium. There is room for parents to sit at the back of the auditorium if they wish to stay. There will be signs showing where each homeroom are to sit.
The day will formally commence at 9.00am with a welcome assembly. Parents are then invited to attend a morning tea at 9.45am, while students will be instructed to move to their homerooms. Students will spend the remainder of the day rotating through a series of activities including:
There will lots of time for students to ask questions and clarify any concerns they may have about next year. Write down any concerns you have and bring the piece of paper with you on Orientation Day.
The day will conclude at 2.30pm.
Some important points about the day:
- A reminder that Year 7 2018 Orientation Day is occurring on Friday 24/11. Boys and parents are asked to assemble in the Auditorium for a 9am start. Parents are warmly invited to a morning tea in O'Brien Hall upon conclusion of the Assembly and boys will be dismissed at 2:30pm.
- Parking is available around the College ovals, please enter via Gate 8. The Auditorium is a short walk up the hill past the College Gym.
- Any student with a Medical Action Plan and/or Medication should deliver this to Reception prior to the morning Assembly and medication is to be collected upon dismissal.

- A tour of the school.
- Having their ID photos taken.
- Hearing about the arts and sports at St. Bernard's College.
- Meeting some of their teachers.
- Exploring the food available at the canteen.
- Playing downball during recess and lunchtime.
There will lots of time for students to ask questions and clarify any concerns they may have about next year. Write down any concerns you have and bring the piece of paper with you on Orientation Day.
The day will conclude at 2.30pm.
Some important points about the day:
- Students are permitted to wear casual clothing.
- Students are not required to bring any books or stationary on the day.
- Students should bring enough food with them to get them through the day, or alternatively some money to purchase food at the College canteen.
- Students are not permitted to bring i-pods or other electronic devices, if they choose to bring a phone it must be switched off before the day begins.
- Organise a meeting point for the end of the day BEFORE entering the Auditorium at the beginning of the day. You will probably not have a chance to talk to your son after this time.
